Pacoima: Officers Smash Car Window To Remove Barricaded DUI Suspect

11.26.2019 | 10:45 PM | PACOIMA – Officers had to break the windows of a car to remove a suspected DUI driver who had barricaded himself inside, Tuesday night.

Officers stopped a suspected DUI driver in a silver sedan on Laurel Canyon South near Rinaldi Street in the Pacoima area around 10:45 PM.

When officers contacted the driver, he refused to comply and barricaded himself inside his vehicle.

Spike strips were placed by officers under the man’s vehicle to prevent him from fleeing while additional resources responded to assist.

Eventually officers approached the vehicle with a shield, breaking open a window on the vehicle, and proceeded to pull the suspect out.

He was taken into custody and transported to an area hospital for evaluation.
