Pacoima: Officers Rescue Distraught Man From Freeway Overpass

07.17.2020 | 11:53 PM | LOS ANGELES – A distraught man threatening to jump from a freeway overpass was rescued by police officers, late Friday night.

Authorities responded to reports of pedestrian on the eastbound SR-118 Freeway over San Fernando Road in the Pacoima area around 11:53 PM.

Units arriving on scene located a distraught man drinking from a bottle of alcohol and threatening to jump.

Officers stopped traffic on the freeway and attempted to talk to the man who swung his legs over the overpass.

After several minutes officers were able to distract the man and pull him to safety.

Firefighter paramedics transported the man to an area hospital for evaluation.
