Pacoima: Abandoned Building Burns Near Homeless Camp
12.19.2019 | 3:34 AM | LOS ANGELES – An abandoned building located next to a homeless encampment burned after a fire deemed suspicious, early Thursday morning.
Authorities responded to reports of a commercial structure fire burning in the 10200 block of San Fernando Road in the Pacoima area around 3:34 AM.
Crews arriving on scene located a vacant single-story building with heavy smoke and fire showing.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze in about 20 minutes but requested arson investigators respond due to the suspicious nature of the fire.
A transient woman who apparently lives in a camp adjacent to the building interfered with firefighters fighting the blaze and may be connected to the cause of the fire.
No injuries were reported and an investigation is underway.
