Oxnard: Pursuit Suspect Caught After Hit & Run Crash

04.08.2020 | 9:50 PM | OXNARD – A suspect who fled from officers at speeds in excess of 160 MPH was taken into custody after a hit-and-run crash, Wednesday night.

Officers attempted to stop a white Chevrolet Camaro traveling at high speeds on the SR-1 near Rice Avenue around 9:50 PM.

The driver of the vehicle failed to yield and fled from officers at speeds that reached over 160 MPH.

Officers lost visual of the suspect for a short time before continuing to pursue the vehicle.

While fleeing the suspect struck another motorist and continued to flee for about a mile before stopping.

The suspect initially refused to surrender but was later taken into custody without further incident.

At least one occupant of the vehicle that was struck by the suspect was transported to an area hospital in unknown condition.

It was not immediately clear why the suspect fled from officers or what charges he might face.
