Oxnard: Firefighters Save Church From Suspicious Fire

03.31.2020 | 11:46 PM | OXNARD – A suspicious fire that was discovered burning the door to a church was quickly extinguished by firefighters, late Tuesday night.

Authorities responded to reports of a structure fire burning at a church in the 300 block of East 2nd Street near Hayes Avenue around 11:46 PM.

Crews arriving on scene located fire burning the rear-door and stoop of the Abundant Life Center, a local church, and quickly worked to contain the blaze.

The fire was extinguished before it could damage the inside of the church but did fill the building with smoke.

Firefighters are working to evacuate smoke from the church while fire investigators work to determine the circumstances surrounding the fire which was determined suspicious in nature.

No injuries were reported and additional information was not immediately available.
