Oxnard: Driver Dead After Crashing Into Power Pole

05.04.2020 | 10:30 PM | OXNARD – A driver was dead after crashing into a power pole and causing it to partially collapse, Monday night.

Authorities responded to reports of a traffic collision involving a pole in the 5200 block of Vineyard Avenue around 10:30 PM.

Units arriving on scene located a grey Nissan sedan that had collided with a power pole causing it to shear at its base.

The driver of the vehicle was pronounced deceased by firefighter paramedics.

The sheared pole partially collapsed but was held up by power lines.

The circumstances surrounding the crash are under investigation but speed may have been a factor.
