Oxnard: Domestic Dispute Leaves One Dead, One In Custody

08.30.2019 | 11:29 PM | OXNARD – One person was dead and another was under arrest after a domestic dispute, late Friday night.

Authorities responded to reports of a shooting following a family dispute inside a residence in the 1000 block of Berkshire Street around 11:30 PM.

Units arriving on scene took the suspected shooter into custody and found a man down suffering from a gunshot wound inside the residence.

Officers performed life-saving measures but despite their efforts along with firefighter paramedics the victim was pronounced deceased on scene.

The suspected shooter, identified as 43-year-old Jaime Villarreal, was arrested and booked on suspicion of murder.

Initial reports indicate VIllarreal used a shotgun to shoot the victim in what police reported was the second call regarding a domestic dispute at the same residence.

An investigation is ongoing and the victim’s identity was not immediately released.
