Oxnard: Deputies Deescalate Standoff With Armed Man
08.25.2020 | 12:00 AM | OXNARD – Deputies were able to deescalate a standoff with an armed man, early Tuesday morning.
Deputies spotted a vehicle that had been involved in a pursuit with another agency occupied in the area of Rice Avenue and Wooley Road around midnight.
The driver of the vehicle drove off into an agricultural area but was stopped when the vehicle became stuck in a ditch.
A standoff with the driver of the vehicle ensued.
At one point the driver armed himself with a piece of rebar and taunted officers outside his vehicle.
Eventually officers were able to talk the man down and detained him without the use of any weapons.
The man was transported to a hospital pending further investigation.
