Overturned Big Rig Spills Recycled Metal All Over Freeway

LOCATION: EB 22 transition to the NB 57 North
AREA/CITY: Santa Ana
DETAILS:
- California Highway Patrol, Santa Ana and Orange County Fire Authority responded to a reported overturned big rig.
- When units arrived, they found a big rig that was hauling several thousand pounds of recycled metals that had spilled allover the freeway and no driver in sight.
- The big rig was also leaking fuel and Cal Trans is Enroute to mitigate the fuel spill.
- transition is currently being shut down and will be for several hours while the metal goods are cleaned up and the trailer is flipped back over.
- It is unknow why the driver of the big rig fled the scene.
