Orange: Passed Out Man In Stolen Vehicle Prompts Standoff

07.17.2019 | 12:28 AM | ORANGE – A standoff ended with police using less-lethal weapons and busting out the window of a stolen vehicle, early Wednesday morning.

An officer on routine patrol spotted a vehicle stopped with the driver apparently passed out at the intersection of Katella Avenue and Stadium Promenade near the Honda Center around 12:28 AM.

The officer ran a records check on the vehicle and discovered it was reported as stolen.

Additional units arrived on scene to wake-up and make contact with the driver but the driver refused to cooperate.

An armored vehicle responded to box the suspect in while police attempt to coax the man out.

After nearly an hour of waiting officers used less-lethal ammunition to bust out a window of the stolen vehicle and retrieve the suspect.

The man was taken into custody without further incident.
