One person was killed after a vehicle caught fire following a crash early Tuesday morning on Houston’s Beltway.
At approximately 3:00 a.m. on July 28, 2026, emergency crews responded to the southbound lanes of the Sam Houston Tollway near the Westpark Tollway for reports of a vehicle fire.
When first responders arrived, they found a passenger vehicle fully engulfed in flames. The fire caused catastrophic damage, leaving the vehicle burned beyond recognition and making it impossible to immediately identify the make or model.
Authorities confirmed the crash was fatal. The identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
Precinct 5 Constables remained on scene while investigators worked to determine what led to the crash.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
