INCIDENT DATE/TIME 5-3-25, 7:13 p.m.
LOCATION: Walnut Ave and El Nido Ave.
AREA/CITY: Perris
DETAILS:

On May 3, 2025, at 7:13 p.m., deputies from the Riverside Sheriff’s Perris Station responded to the area of Walnut Avenue and El Nido Avenue, Perris, regarding a report of a major injury traffic collision involving a Dodge Charger and two Yamaha Raptors. Deputies arrived on scene and located one of the Yamaha drivers unresponsive with significant injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second Yamaha driver was located with major injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where they remain in critical condition. The driver of the Dodge was located at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

The Perris Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. Preliminary findings revealed that the Dodge was traveling westbound on Walnut Avenue when it attempted to utilize the eastbound lane to pass a group of off-road vehicle (ORV) riders traveling westbound in front of it. While doing so, the Dodge collided with two of the ORVs. Drugs or alcohol do not appear to have been a factor in this collision. This investigation remains ongoing, and the case will be submitted to the District Attorney’s Office for review at a later time.

The identity of the deceased will not be released pending further investigation and notification to the next of kin. A temporary road closure of Walnut Avenue between El Nido Avenue and Sherman Avenue was required in order to process the scene and collect evidence.
