One Dead Following Violent High Speed Crash

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 4-20-23 | 10:54 p.m.
LOCATION: South I5 & Whittier Blvd
CITY: Los Angeles
DETAILS:

1. LAFD responded to a crash on the south lanes of the 5 & Whittier Blvd
2. Firefighters arrived and located a vehicle that struck the guard rail and flew down an embankment
3. The car rolled and eventually landed against a block wall
4. A female driver in her 30’s was ejected during the crash
5. She sustained major injuries and is in critical condition
6. A male passenger in his mid 20’s was trapped in the car
7. Firefighters had to extricate the male from the vehicle
8. Unfortunately the male was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash
9. There is approximately 100 feet of guard rail damaged as a result of the crash
10. CHP Central is handling the investigation
