Officer Rescues Man From Car Submerged In Pool

According to Phoenix Police officers and a Phoenix Police Sergeant on the scene, officers responded to reports of a vehicle that crashed through a fence and into an apartment complex swimming pool near the 4300 block of North 35th Avenue.
A single Phoenix Police patrol officer from the Cactus Park precinct was first to arrive on the scene.
The officer quickly located the vehicle wholly submerged in the pool, with the driver trapped inside.
The officer retrieved a Halligan pry bar from his patrol vehicle and jumped into the water.
The officer climbed onto the roof of the submerged sedan, broke the sunroof glass, and pulled the driver from the vehicle.
Phoenix Fire crews and several additional backup officers arrived moments later.
The driver, an adult male, was evaluated by Phoenix Fire and transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The Phoenix Police officer pulled the man from the vehicle and was evaluated on the scene but refused medical attention.
Details surrounding how the crash occurred are unclear at this time.
UPDATE:
The Phoenix Police Dive Team was dispatched to the scene along with a heavy duty tow truck to remove the vehicle from the pool.

Just before 2:00 a.m., officers responded to the area of 4300 North 35th Avenue regarding a vehicle that had crashed into an apartment fence and was in a pool. When officers arrived, they located the vehicle in the pool and extracted the lone adult male occupant. The man was transported to a nearby hospital for precautionary reasons. Officers remain on scene conducting the related investigation. Once this is complete, the area will be cleared, and the investigation will be turned over to detectives. At this time, it is unclear if impairment was a factor in this collision.
