Officer-Involved Three Vehicle Collision

10.21.2020 | 2:22 PM | CHULA VISTA – A CVPD officer was responding to a felony “Hot Stop” on a wanted suspect.

The officer was driving south on 4th Ave when an elderly woman pulled out from the Scripps Medical Buildings parking lot and struck the officers’ patrol vehicle which in turn struck a mini-van being driven by a woman who was waiting to make a left-hand turn into the same parking lot.

The officer was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries and the two women were not injured. 4th Ave from G Street to H Street was closed in both directions for approx. 1 hour.

In the other incident, the suspect was taken into custody without further incident and it’s believed he was wearing a bullet-proof vest at the time of his arrest. It’s unknown if any weapons were recovered.
