Officer-Involved Shooting During Stolen Vehicle Pursuit
At approximately 11:30 p.m. on May 6, 2026, officers were involved in a pursuit of a reported stolen vehicle in San Diego.
Authorities say the female driver was being pursued near the 5 Freeway and Sea World area when, near Derby Farms Road and San Dieguito Road, she allegedly accelerated toward officers, leading to an officer-involved shooting.
The pursuit continued before the suspect eventually crashed near Highland Ranch Road and Ted Williams Parkway.
No other vehicles were involved in the collision.
The woman was taken into custody following the crash.
Authorities have not confirmed whether the suspect was struck when officers fired their weapons.
The investigation remains ongoing.
