Officer Injured In Crash With DUI Driver

INJURY TRAFFIC COLLISION 

BUENA PARK, Calif. – On August 5th, 2024, at around 1:49 am, an on-duty Buena Park  police officer was injured in a traffic collision.

The collision took place at the intersection of Knott Avenue and Naomi Avenue. As the  officer was driving south on Knott Avenue, another motorist entered Knott Avenue from  Naomi Avenue and collided with the officer’s marked patrol vehicle.

The collision caused the officer’s vehicle to travel into the northbound lanes of Knott  Avenue. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the collision. The injured officer  was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and released with minor injuries. The  motorist, a male adult from Anaheim (34 years of age), was arrested for DUI. The officer  is currently recovering and is expected to return to work shortly.
