Officer Injured After Shooting At Catalytic Converter Thieves | Houston
04.02.2022 | 10:41 PM | HOUSTON – HCSO is investigating a shooting in the parking lot of ShowBiz Cinemas. Deputies believe two officers from New Caney ISD were working an extra job at the movie theater. The officers shot at possible catalytic converter thieves. The suspects attempted to run the officers over. Suspects fled in a dark grey sedan. One officer was injured, he was possibly hit by a ricochet. He was transported to an area hospital in stable condition. HCSO Homicide is en route to the scene. Two New Caney ISD police officers were working an extra job at the movie theater. Customers notified the officers that there were suspects attempting to steal catalytic converters in the parking lot. Officers found the suspects in their vehicle and ordered them out. The suspects refused and began to drive towards officers. Officers discharged their firearms at the suspects, possibly striking the vehicle 3-4 times. The suspects fled west on the beltway service road from this location The suspects are described as three black males. The vehicle is a silver 4 door sedan with a rear spoiler and a sunroof. One officer sustained a minor injury to his leg, he was transported to an area hospital. The officer may have been grazed by a round, it is unclear if the suspect shot or if it was friendly fire. Homicide was able to view surveillance footage of the incident. Crime techs are going to go through the truck and look for prints & see if there is any damage.
