Oceanside: Security Officer Arrests School Burglars

03.26.2019 | 2:10 AM | OCEANSIDE – Two minors were in police custody after being apprehended by a security guard while apparently burglarizing an elementary school.

Officers responded to reports of a commercial burglary that had been interrupted by a security guard at the Empressa Elementary School in the 4800 block of Avenida Empressa around 2:10 AM.

Units arriving on scene discovered a North Coast Patrol security officer had detained two individuals who he found while responding to a burglary alarm.

Both suspects were discovered by the security officer inside kindergarten classrooms and detained while police responded.

Initial reports indicate the suspects are juveniles however their exact age was unknown.
