Oceanside: Black Lives Matter Protesters Peacefully Intervene With Arrest

06.03.2020 | 9:20 PM | OCEANSIDE – Several protesters peacefully intervened with an arrest unrelated to the protests, Wednesday night.

Officers responded to a domestic violence call and were attempting to arrest a male suspect near the Oceanside Pier as a peaceful Black Lives Matter protest was taking place around 9:20 PM.

The suspect was not complying with officers and a crowd of protesters quickly grew around the scene.

One of the protesters, identified only a “DJ,” spoke with officers on scene and offered to help deescalate the situation.

DJ got on his stomach and worked to calm the man so he could be detained without any additional use of force.

After the incident DJ addressed the crowd with words of peace and unity.

Details relating to the domestic violence arrest were not immediately available.

The protest was entirely peaceful and no arrests or crimes were reported.
