NRG Generating Station Catches Fire | Houston

05.08.2022 | 11:40 PM | HOUSTON – Multiple Fire Departments responded to a reported fire at the WA Parish Generating Station Fire could be seen coming from one building. Unit 8, a coal fueled unit that produces steam caught fire. The unit automatically shut down as it should. Crews extinguished the flames and are currently still putting water on hot spots. Tomorrow NRG will do a damage assessment. Unit 8 produces electricity through steam. NRG does not expect this to affect any production of electricity. No injuries have been reported. There is no danger to the community at this time. The cause & extent of the damage is unknown. This is the second largest conventional power plant in the United Stated.
