Northridge: Suspects Flee On Foot After Causing ATM To Catch Fire, Getaway Vehicle Dies
04.01.2020 | 3:42 AM | NLOS ANGELES – Burglars fled on foot after they caused an ATM to catch fire and their getaway vehicle died at the scene, early Wednesday morning.
Authorities responded to reports of a structure fire burning in the 19000 block of Parthenia Street in the Northridge area around 3:42 AM.
Units arriving on scene located an ATM on fire with a chain wrapped around it leading to a pickup truck.
Firefighters quickly doused the flames and discovered someone had used a blowtorch to cut into the ATM causing it to catch fire after cash was taken from inside.
The pickup truck reportedly had a dead battery and was littered with beer cans.
Officers believe the suspects had to flee on foot due to the pickup truck becoming disabled.
An investigation is ongoing.
