North Hills: Suspected DUI Driver Falls Asleep While Stopped On Busy Freeway

12.15.2019 | 3:00 AM | LOS ANGELES – A suspected DUI driver was under arrest after falling asleep during a traffic break on a busy freeway, early Sunday morning.

Officers were performing a traffic break on the southbound I-405 Freeway near Nordhoff Street in the North Hills area around 3:00 AM.

After releasing the traffic break officers located a white Audi sedan stopped in the middle of the freeway with a female driver asleep behind the wheel.

An officer attempted to wake the driver by pounding on her windows causing the driver to suddenly take off.

Additional officers quickly chased the woman down and detained her before performing field sobriety tests and arresting her on suspicion of DUI.

The reason for the initial traffic break was not immediately known.
