Newport Beach: Tri-County Pursuit Ends With Arrests

02.22.2019 | 12:00 AM | NEWPORT BEACH – Two men who lead police on an hours-long pursuit through at least three counties were in custody, early Friday morning.

Officers attempted to stop a white work van that was reportedly stolen in the city of Santa Ana.

The driver of the vehicle, along with his passenger, failed to yield leading officers on an hours-long pursuit that entered Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties.

Officers successfully deployed a spike strip but the driver continued to flee before running out of gas near the intersection of MacArthur Boulevard and Bison Avenue in Newport Beach.

Both the driver and passenger, described as adult males, were taken into custody without incident and expected to be booked into the Orange County Jail.
