Natural Gas Explosion and Fire Cause by Construction Crew

LOCATION: 3030 Plaza Bonita Rd

DETAILS:

 

1. A construction crew was working on the Westfield Plaza Bonita Mall property.
2. While digging for a water line, they hit and severed a large natural gas line.
3. There was an explosion.
4. Both a “Bob Cat” and an excavator caught on fire and are burning.
5. The flames are shooting approx 15-20 feet in the air.
6. SDG&E crews are trying to cut off the gas.
7. The Mall property is closed at this time.
8. No injuries were reported.
