National City: Postman Seriously Injured After Being Struck By Driver Having Medical Emergency – Caught On Camera

09.12.2019 | 12:51 PM | NATIONAL CITY – A postal worker was seriously injured after being struck and pinned by a driver having a medical emergency, Thursday afternoon.

Authorities responded to reports of a vehicle that had struck a postman in the 2900 block of Highland Avenue around 12:51 PM.

Units arriving on scene found a postman who was at the rear of his delivery truck when a driver who was suffering from a medical emergency crashed into him.

The collision pinned the postman between his delivery truck until good samaritans could put the vehicle into reverse.

Firefighter paramedics treated both the postal worker on scene before transporting him to an area hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the postman was also transported to an area hospital for treatment. It was reported that the driver suffered a seizure while driving and has a history of seizures.

A nearby surveillance camera captured the crash and resulting aftermath on film.

The National City Police Department is investigating.
