National City: Police Arrest Car Suspected Thief At Gunpoint

12.23.2018 | 1:00 PM | NATIONAL CITY – Officers took a suspected car thief into custody at gunpoint, Sunday evening.

Employees of a local AM/PM Gas Station called police to report a suspicions person inside a vehicle near the intersection of West 8th Street and Roosevelt Avenue around 1:00 PM.

Police dispatchers taking the call ran a records check of the license plate provided by the AM/PM employee and determined it returned to a stolen blue Volkswagen Passat sedan.

Officers responded in force and swarmed the vehicle with guns drawn before detaining the male occupant.

The man was taken into custody while officers worked to investigate the incident.
