National City: Major Freeway Crash With Fire Injures Nine People
07.01.2019 | 6:50 PM | NATIONAL CITY – A fiery multi-vehicle crash left nine people injured, Monday evening.
Authorities responded to reports of a crash involving four vehicles on the northbound I-5 near Civic Center Drive around 6:50 PM.
Units arriving on scene located the four vehicle crash with three of the involved vehicles engulfed in flames.
Firefighters quickly doused the multi-vehicle fire before treating and transporting nine patients to area hospitals for treatment.
At least seven of the nine injured were considered to be in serious condition, including a child with burn injuries.
Initial reports indicate that the driver of a silver truck cut in front of a row of cars causing the chain-reaction crash.
Officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
