National City: Kids Escape Serious Injury After Bird Scooter Crash
11.20.2018 | 11:44 AM | NATIONAL CITY – A group of kids riding Bird electric scooters were lucky to be uninjured after a driver struck one of them, Tuesday morning.
Police and fire officials responded to a reported crash involving a child at the intersection of 1st Street and National City Boulevard shortly before 11:45 AM.
Units arriving on scene found a crash involving an SUV and a young boy who was riding a Bird electric scooter.
The boy was reportedly thrown approximately 5 feet from the scooter after being struck however was not seriously injured.
The scooter could be seen lodged under the SUV.
Initial reports indicate the group of boys were riding on the sidewalk before attempting to cross the intersection at a green light.
The driver reportedly did not see the group while making a right turn on a red light and struck the first boy.
Police were investigating the crash.
