MTS Trolley Strikes Ped Causing Major Injuries

LOCATION: Francis St & Imperial Ave
AREA/CITY: San Diego
DETAILS:

 

  1. Residents told us that the male victim was seen attempting to remove the vehicle cover from a parked truck that did not belong to him.
  2. The male failed.
  3. They said the male appeared to be intoxicated.
  4. The male walked off and walked westbound down the MTS Trolley tracks.
  5. At some point, he either fell or laid down on the eastbound tracks.
  6. An eastbound MTS Trolley came along and ran over the male.
  7. The Trolley engineer saw the male, but it was too late to stop.
  8. When they came to a stop, they called for 1st Responders.
  9. Firefighters and Trolley employees went down to the male, finding the male still alive.
  10. They transported the male to a local hospital with a major head injury. (partial scalping).
  11. The male did smell heavily of alcohol, according to the MTS employees.
  12. MTS will be handling the investigation.
  13. The Trolley went back into service after the incident.
