At approximately 3:15am on February 28th, 2026, authorities received reports of a motorcycle crashing into a roadside wall on the on-ramp to northbound Interstate 405 at Springdale Street in Westminster.
Witnesses reported the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to impact and veered toward the left lanes after striking the wall. Callers later advised that a person was lying in the roadway, though it was initially unclear if the individual was down in active traffic lanes.
By 3:22am, responding units requested a hard closure of the on-ramp and portions of the mainline lanes to secure the scene. The coroner was notified at approximately 3:21am.
At 4:09am, CHP officers located a black motorcycle helmet with visible blood spatter. No other vehicles were found in the immediate area. Investigators indicated there were signs the rider may have been in the roadway for some time before being located.
As part of the ongoing investigation, officers were asked to check a dark-colored Honda Fit parked in Long Beach for possible damage related to the incident.
The scene remained under investigation with coordinated traffic control, evidence collection, and roadway cleanup.
