INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 5/27/24 5:11 p.m.
LOCATION: Santiago Canyon Road / Loma Ridge Road
AREA/CITY: Santiago Canyon
DETAILS:
- A motorcyclist with a passenger was riding down Santiago Canyon Road when they struck a crossing deer, and crashed.
- The deer ran off from the scene.
- Seeing the crash, a driver in a red compact car going westbound on the road moved to make a U-turn to try and render aid, a CHP sergeant said.
- As the driver was making the turn, he was struck by an SUV going eastbound.
- The force pushed the red car down a ditch and into a tree, killing the driver.
- The driver of the SUV was not injured, and the motorcyclist from the original crash was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
- CHP is investigating both as two separate crashes, and had the motorcycle’s passenger, who wasn’t injured, take the bike away from the scene.
