Mortar Blows Up In Man’s Face
INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 7-4-24 8:45 PM
LOCATION: 1700 Block of S Dallas Dr. near intersection with Katella Ave.
AREA/CITY: Anaheim
DETAILS:
- At or around 8:45 Thursday night, paramedics and other units from Anaheim Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the 1700 block of South Dallas Drive.
- Arriving units found an adult male with burns to his face.
- He was transported to the UCI Medical Center Burn Unit in critical condition.
- According to a witness, the man was lighting a mortar when the incident took place.
- The witness explained that the victim lit the fuse but the firework did not go off.
- The man then approached the device and looked down the tube, as he did so, it ignited causing him to fall back and hit his head on the pavement.
