Moreno Valley: Man Held Hostage After Being Shot By Suspect

11.27.2019 | 11:30 PM | MORENO VALLEY – A suspect was in custody after holding a man who he had shot hostage for hours while he was barricaded inside a home, late Tuesday night.

Authorities responded to reports of a shooting with a victim down at a home near the intersection of Edgemont Street and Cottonwood Avenue around 11:30 PM.

Units arriving on scene learned a man had been shot by a suspect who was holding the victim hostage inside a home.

The suspect refused to comply with commands from officers prompting a SWAT team to respond.

After several hours and the use of flashbang devices, the suspect freed the victim.

The victim was taken via police car to an awaiting medical team before being transported to an area hospital in unknown condition.

Hours later the suspect finally surrendered and was taken into custody.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
