Monterey Park: Vehicle Dragged After Slamming Into Moving Big Rig

04.08.2019 | 2:15 AM | MONTEREY PARK – A driver who slammed into the rear of a moving big rig was dragged for approximately a mile before the truck driver realized what had happened, Monday morning.

Authorities responded to reports of a traffic collision involving a big rig with parties trapped on the westbound I-60 Freeway just east of Garfield Avenue around 2:15 AM.

Units arriving on scene found a GMC Envoy that had slammed into the rear of a big-rig with the driver pinned inside.

Using the jaws of life and other power tools firefighters cut the victim free within 20 minutes.

The man was transported to USC Medical Center in stable condition.

The driver of the big rig, who did not immediately realize he had been rear-ended, was uninjured and cooperated with law enforcement.

Officers shut down all westbound lanes of the I-60 Freeway while they worked to investigate and clear the scene of debris.
