Montecito: Pedestrian Killed By Hit-And-Run Driver On Freeway

03.23.2019 | 2:03 AM | MONTECITO – A pedestrian was killed by a driver who fled the scene after reportedly stopping to check damage to their vehicle, Saturday morning.

Authorities responded to the reported traffic collision involving a pedestrian on the southbound I-101 Freeway near San Ysidro Road around 2:03 AM.

Units arriving on scene located a pedestrian deceased in the roadway and learned that witnesses saw a vehicle strike the pedestrian, stop to check for damage, and then continue on.

Additional officers patrolling the area located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on it near the intersection of Victoria Road and Thille Street.

All southbound lanes were closed at San Ysidro Road while officers investigated the incident.
