Montecito Heights: Car into Channel VICTIM FOUND DOWNRIVER

 

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 2:11 am LOCATION: Avenue 52 & Arroyo Seco Channel CITY: Los Angeles DETAILS: At around 2:11 am, the CHP & LAFD received a distress call about a vehicle that had fallen into the Arroyo Seco Channel near Avenue 52. On arrival, they found one vehicle in the channel, and a reporting party communicated to them that they had possibly seen at least one occupant floating down the river. The teams then swiftly moved to Avenue 19 to set up for a swift water rescue. Air operations were also deployed to survey the channel and the LA River. Unfortunately, no patient was found at the scene, but it was later discovered that the vehicle was not reported stolen. After a thorough search, the victim was found downriver at the Washington Bridge. Crews used a rope & ladder operation to hoist the patient up to the bridge. According to LAFD traffic, the victim was found to be extremely under the influence of alcohol. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
