Mission Bay: Pursuit Suspect Visits Sea Word and Gets Inspired to go For a Swim

11.14.2020 | 9:07 PM | SAN DIEGO – SDPD officers attempted to stop a car for a traffic violation. After a short pursuit, the driver stopped and fled on foot towards Sea World. The passenger stayed in the vehicle.

The suspect disappeared and a perimeter was set up and the officers searched the area for approx 1 hour and started to break it down.

A Sea World Security guard spotted the male suspect walking on Ingraham St and notified the officers.

As the officers approached, the suspected started running and when he got to the Ingraham St bridge, he jumped approx 50 feet into the bay.

SD City Lifeguards were dispatched to help in getting the suspect.

The SDPD ABLE helicopter was overhead and after approx 10 minutes in the water, the suspect swam to shore and surrender.

The suspect was a Probationer in violation of his probation and he was taken into custody.
