MISSION BAY: Lifeguards Rescue Boat Full of Illegal Immigrants

DETAILS:
- The SD City Lifeguards received calls of a boat full of illegal immigrants foundering in the ocean off of Ocean Beach.
- The Lifeguard dispatched a rescue boat, and upon arrival, they found 17 men, women, and juveniles onboard.
- They either ran out of gas or their engine failed, and they were drifting towards the rock jetty. Some were seen attempting to paddle ashore.
- The boat was towed to the Lifeguard boat docks, and a second boat was sent to escort the other two.
- U.S. Border Patrol arrived and took the 17 immigrants into custody without incident.
- Lifeguards provided blankets to the immigrants and got them under cover from falling rain.
