10.03.2019 | 8:00 AM | SAN DIEGO – A newer-model Mercedes-Benz sedan was found at the bottom of Mission Bay by the San Diego State University’s water ski team, Thursday morning
Authorities were alerted to the presence of an abandoned vehicle at the bottom of Mission Bay by a university water ski team around 8:00 AM.
Units arriving on scene learned that the San Diego State University’s water ski team was practicing when they located a black newer-model Mercedes-Benz sedan underwater approximately 100 feet offshore.
Police and lifeguards located tire tracks in the sand that may be related to the vehicle and summoned a tow-truck to remove the vehicle.
Once onshore authorities discovered the vehicle’s sunroof had been busted out and the trunk was left ajar.
No one was found inside the vehicle.
A records check by police did not immediately indicate that the vehicle had been stolen.
An investigation is ongoing.
