Mexico World Cup Win Sparks Massive Southern California Celebrations

Mexico’s World Cup victory sparked massive celebrations across Southern California on the evening of June 30, 2026, drawing thousands of fans into the streets in Carson, Long Beach, and Huntington Park.

In Carson, fans packed L.A. Galaxy Park next to Dignity Health Sports Park to watch the match, with attendance reaching maximum capacity. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies eventually turned away additional spectators and asked vendors to leave the property. Los Angeles County Fire Department crews also responded after one attendee suffered a medical emergency. Video from the event captured the crowd erupting in celebration each time Mexico scored.

Later in the evening, hundreds of fans gathered near Broadway and Pine Avenue in Downtown Long Beach to celebrate the victory. Long Beach Police monitored the festivities as fans spilled into the intersection, temporarily blocking traffic. Officers used loudspeakers to move the crowd back onto the sidewalks, while several riders performed donuts on electric motorcycles in the intersection. Authorities also reported that one fan climbed onto a patrol vehicle and damaged a spotlight before fleeing the area. No injuries or arrests were reported, and the intersection reopened around 10:00 p.m.

Celebrations also continued throughout Huntington Park, where fans flooded streets near Pacific Boulevard, Alameda Street, and Florence Avenue. Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, assisted by officers from multiple neighboring agencies, maintained a heavy law enforcement presence to manage traffic and crowds. SWAT personnel were also observed staged near Florence Avenue and Mountain View Road as a precaution.

Despite isolated property damage and temporary road closures, the celebrations remained largely peaceful as fans marked Mexico’s World Cup victory throughout the region.
