Massive Illegal Fireworks Cache Found In South LA Home

At approximately 6:30 a.m. on May 27, 2026, Los Angeles Police officers served a domestic violence arrest warrant at a home near 85th Street and Main Street in South Los Angeles.

After taking one person into custody, officers discovered a massive cache of illegal fireworks inside the residence and requested assistance from the LAPD Bomb Squad.

According to investigators, the home was packed floor-to-ceiling with boxes of fireworks in nearly every room.

Authorities said they recovered hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of illegal fireworks during the operation.

Video from the scene showed multiple box trucks and a flatbed truck being loaded with seized fireworks as crews worked throughout the day to safely remove the hazardous materials.

A large safety perimeter was established around the neighborhood, with residents waiting for hours before being allowed back into their homes one at a time.

The discovery comes just weeks after a deadly fireworks-related explosion in Los Angeles that highlighted the dangers of illegally stored pyrotechnics.

The investigation remains ongoing.
