Massive Commercial Fire Breaks Out In Downtown LA
At approximately 4:00 a.m. on May 10, 2026, firefighters responded to a major commercial structure fire near 12th Street and Hope Street in downtown Los Angeles.
Crews encountered heavy flames coming from a two-story commercial building with a mezzanine level. At one point during the incident, firefighters transitioned from an offensive attack to a defensive operation as the fire intensified.
More than 120 firefighters were assigned to the scene, and the blaze was fully knocked down just before 6:00 a.m.
Nearby high-rise apartment buildings were considered for evacuation as crews worked to contain the fire.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
