Massive Apartment Fire Displaces Dozens in Houston
At approximately 7:40pm on March 24th, 2026, Houston Fire Department crews responded to reports of fire and smoke at the Quail Creek Apartments located on Grow Lane in Houston.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy smoke coming from a second-floor unit, with initial reports suggesting someone may have been trapped inside. Crews entered in fire attack and rescue mode and conducted a primary search, ultimately confirming no victims were inside.
Approximately 60 to 70 firefighters, paramedics, and emergency personnel responded to the scene. The fire was about 90% contained by around 10:00pm.
Officials reported that the building consisted of 32 units, with approximately 16 units critically damaged beyond repair and the remaining units considered salvageable. Around a dozen residents were displaced as a result of the fire.
Authorities stated the fire appeared to have originated in a second-floor apartment. Wind conditions and the building’s roof construction made firefighting efforts more challenging. The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
The Red Cross was notified to assist displaced residents.
