Manhattan Beach Lifeguard Tower Targeted By Possible Arsonist
11.23.2020 | 9:45 PM | MANHATTAN BEACH – A Lifeguard tower was severely damaged by flames Monday night, which was believed to have been started by an arsonist.
Authorities from the Manhattan Beach Police & Fire Departments responded to the area of 30th Street & N. The Strand shortly before 10 PM.
Upon arrival, they found a lifeguard tower with heavy fire under the lifeguard tower. They were able to quickly knock down the blaze before it could consume the rest of the structure.
Lifeguards responded to the scene and confirmed the only wires running to the tower were for phones and not power. Additionally, the fire appeared to have started on the outside of the tower.
Officers did not have anyone detained at the scene.
