LOCATION: 600 Block of Arth Drive, Crestline
SUSPECT(S): Clifton William Bedore 45-year-old Male Resident of Crestline
VICTIM(S): Confidential, State of California
SUMMARY: On October 30, 2024, Clifton Bedore assaulted the victim, his brother, with a 2×4 and dumbbells after they argued over a cell phone and the care of their elderly mother. Bedore barricaded himself on the third story of their residence and threatened to burn the house down.
Before deputies arrived at the location, Bedore armed himself with an improvised incindiary device and threatened to use it against anyone who attempted to go up the stairs.
While deputies spoke with Bedore, deputies evacuated the victim and his elderly mother to awaiting medical personnel for transportation to a local hospital for medical treatment.
During deputy’s initial negotiations with Bedore, he ignited his improvised incindiary device and threatened to use it against deputies if they tried to arrest him. Bedore also poured what was believed to be an accelerant on the floor and loaded a firearm.
The Sheriff’s Specialized Enforcement Division responded, established communications, and negotiated with Bedore. After approximately four hours, Bedore surrendered and was taken into custody without incident. Bedore was interviewed, transported to a local hospital for a pre-booking medical exam, and booked at West Valley Detention Center.
