Man Threatened to Blow Up Church

LOCATION: LAKEWOOD CHURCH– 3700 SOUTHWEST FREEWAY
AREA/CITY: HOUSTON
DETAILS:
- HPD officers were dispatched to reports that a male had threatened to blow up Lakewood Church with a device attached to Sarin Gas
- Officers en route were able to figure out the identity of the suspect by connecting him to a separate call from earlier in the day
- Officers arrived at the church and briefed the security team
- The suspect and duffel bags were located
- male was taken into custody
- bomb squad and HFD Hazmat responded and assessed the bags and possible devices
- no threats located
- DA’s office accepted 3rd-degree felony charges
