Man Slams New Mercedes into Pole, Critically Injuring Female

- A woman was rushed to a trauma center unresponsive after a male driver collided with a traffic light pole at the end of Firestone Boulevard early Wednesday morning
- Norwalk deputies were called to the intersection shortly before 3:30 AM regarding a solo vehicle traffic accident versus a pole.
- Arriving, they located the driver outside the vehicle with what appeared to be minor injuries while his female companion was trapped in the front passenger seat, unresponsive.
- Firefighters requested additional resources to the location with additional tools to free the female from the vehicle
- .It took firefighters about 20 minutes to free the female from the vehicle, where she was quickly transported into an ambulance, and rushed to UCI Medical Center in critical conditio.n
- The male was assessed for injuries but was not transported. He is now being interviewed by deputies on the scene. It is also unclear if DUI was a factor in the crash
