Man Shot During Street Takeover In Boyle Heights
A street takeover in Boyle Heights turned violent early Sunday morning when a man was shot near a gas station.
At approximately 2:30 a.m. on July 20, 2026, Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting near the intersection of Lorena Street and Whittier Boulevard.
According to initial reports, a man was shot twice in the chest during or shortly after the street takeover.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital. His condition has not been released.
Police are searching for a suspect who reportedly fled the scene in a gray Nissan Altima. Initial reports indicate the suspect may have fled with a chain believed to have been taken from the victim, though investigators have not confirmed those details.
The shooting remains under investigation.
