Man Shot Dead During Party Fight In Katy

At approximately 12:15 a.m. on June 14, 2026, Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to reports of a disturbance at a residence in the 24600 block of Sandal Springs in Katy.

While the caller was still on the phone with 911, dispatchers received reports that shots had been fired outside the home where a large gathering was taking place.

When deputies arrived, they located an approximately 45 year-old Black male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

According to investigators, a large fight broke out among several attendees during the gathering. Detectives believe one of the individuals involved in the altercation went to a vehicle, retrieved a firearm, and returned before shooting the victim multiple times.

Based on video evidence collected during the investigation, authorities believe the shooting was targeted and not a random act of gunfire into the crowd.

Investigators said the gathering appeared to be a social get-together involving family members and other guests. At this time, detectives do not believe the suspected shooter was related to either the victim or the hosts of the party.

Homicide investigators are working to positively identify the suspect and determine whether criminal charges will be filed.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending family notification.
